Secure Database Access

Native SQL access with recorded queries and no raw database credentials exposed.

The Database Access Problem

Databases hold the most sensitive data in any organization — customer records, financial ledgers, credentials, and regulated content. Yet database access is usually managed the same way it was twenty years ago: a handful of powerful credentials, shared among a wide circle of developers, DBAs, and support staff, with no record of which query actually touched which data.

Shared passwords are the norm. Privileges are broad by default. Queries go unrecorded. And when someone leaves, those database credentials keep working. PDAccess replaces that model with native, policy-controlled, fully recorded database access.

Native SQL Proxy

PDAccess brokers database access through a Database proxy that speaks to your database the way a native SQL client would. Users connect with a SQL client front-end, and PDAccess routes every connection through its encrypted proxy. The database sees a single, controlled connection point — not a user’s raw credentials.

  • Native protocol access — works with the SQL dialects your applications already use, not a bolt-on gateway that breaks tooling.
  • No client-side secrets — the SQL client authenticates to PDAccess, never to the database directly.
  • Per-connection brokering — every session is brokered through the proxy, keeping the credential in the vault.

No Raw Credentials. Zero-Knowledge Brokering.

The core guarantee: users never see the database password. Credentials live encrypted in PDAccess’s zero-knowledge vault. When a user connects, PDAccess retrieves the credential and brokers the session — the secret is injected behind the proxy and never exposed to the user, their laptop, or their tooling.

  • Zero credential distribution — no passwords in chat, email, scripts, or clipboards.
  • Automatic rotation — credentials can rotate on a schedule without touching any user or application.
  • Instant revocation — revoke a user and their database access disappears immediately, even if the underlying password is unchanged.

Recorded Queries

PDAccess records what actually happens inside the database. Queries are captured and logged, so you can answer the questions auditors and incident responders always ask:

  • Which user ran which query, on which database, at what time?
  • Was sensitive data read, modified, or exported?
  • What did a contractor’s session contain, from start to finish?

This level of query-level audit is exactly what PCI-DSS, SOX, and HIPAA demand for data access.

Per-Database Policy

Not every user needs every database. PDAccess enforces per-database access policies so that least privilege is the default:

  • A developer sees only the schemas their application owns.
  • A DBA gets maintenance access to a specific instance, scoped and time-bound.
  • A support contractor reaches one database for a defined window — nothing more.

Role definitions, time boundaries, and approval workflows apply the same way as for every other privileged protocol on the platform.

The Business Impact

Organizations using PDAccess for secure database access achieve:

  • Eliminated shared database passwords — no more credentials known to half the team
  • Complete query audit trails — every access is recorded, searchable, and attributable
  • Faster compliance — one record satisfies PCI-DSS, SOX, and HIPAA data-access requirements
  • Safe rotation — credentials rotate automatically without coordination or downtime
  • Consistent policy — the same PAM model that governs hosts and networks governs your data

Bottom Line

Database access is the highest-stakes access you control, and it deserves controls that match it. PDAccess brokers every database connection through a native SQL proxy — with zero-knowledge credential brokering, recorded queries, and per-database policy — so your data stays protected, your credentials stay secret, and your auditors get a complete record.
